Cindi, you are right of course about the fear of "missing something" and not knowing what one is looking for. Clearly there's a lot of work to be done.

Regarding the Basex:TechWatch newsletter, this focuses not only on Information Overload but also on collaboration and knowledge sharing technologies - and some cloud computing news is relevant to this. We constantly ask ourselves if something is relevant and sometimes we err on the side of caution, given the great diversity of our readership.

It's an interesting dilemma, as our bosses and the general public seem to be clamoring for more information, but then they complain. The field has not yet developed the approaches needed to deliver the right information at the right time, so we want to get it all for fear of missing something. Plus sometimes you don't know what it is that you're looking for.

I have a question though -- if you want to stop information overload, why does your weekly Basex TechWatch include news of tangential areas, such as cloud computing? I'd like it to focus more on items directly related to information. CRM, for example, may not be generally relevant to those trying to stem the flow of information; same goes for neat tech gadgets -- we can find news of that elsewhere. These emails get very long!

Regards,
